Quick answer

Taksim Square is one of Istanbul's best-known public spaces, but its current advertising environment is often misrepresented. It is not a Turkish equivalent of Times Square and there is no single, continuously documented, building-wide digital spectacular dominating every view of the plaza. The outdoor digital inventory that can be verified consists principally of a freestanding municipal-branded digital billboard on the road edge of the square and two smaller property-mounted LED panels at Taner Palas, facing the square from Sıraselviler Caddesi.

That distinction matters to advertisers. Search results frequently mix current Taksim Square screens with historical facade wraps, temporary event screens, metro advertising, the Nostalgic Tram, screens inside Atatürk Cultural Center and street furniture elsewhere on İstiklal Avenue. A buyer should request the exact site photograph, address, screen ID and viewing direction before approving a plan described simply as “Taksim.”

What outdoor digital inventory is actually at Taksim Square?

The freestanding Yovi digital billboard

A documented outdoor screen stands on a traffic island or pavement area at the road perimeter of Taksim Square. It is a conventional landscape digital billboard on a black pedestal rather than a building facade. A Pantum campaign photographed in November 2024 clearly shows the screen at Taksim, with Yovi branding on the support and İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi and Kültür A.Ş. identification along the bottom of the display.

Reklam İstanbul currently presents its city-screen network under the Yovist name, while the documented Taksim unit carried Yovi branding in 2024. Reklam İstanbul describes Yovist as a network of digital screens in high-traffic city locations and publishes a direct sales contact, but its public inventory page does not expose a complete site-level specification for Taksim. The sensible direct route is therefore to contact Reklam İstanbul's Yovist team and ask it to confirm that the Taksim unit remains commercially available, the current municipal-rights arrangement, the number of sellable faces, dimensions, orientation, loop and rate.

The billboard is visible to people moving around the open square and to road traffic passing its southern perimeter. Its elevated landscape face suits short video or bold static creative. However, no current first-party Taksim rate card, audited audience figure, exact pixel dimensions, spot duration or operating schedule was publicly verified during this review.

The Taner Palas / Artekselans LED panels

Artekselans directly markets two LED panels facing Taksim Square from Taner Palas at Sıraselviler Caddesi No. 9. Current site photography shows window- and balcony-level panels looking across the road toward the square, Taksim Mosque and the Republic Monument area. These are elevated property-mounted screens, but they are substantially smaller than the historic building-covering advertisements associated with old photographs of Taksim.

The seller states that it accepts JPG, PNG and MP4, offers daily, weekly or monthly planning, and can accommodate 15–60-second content. It also promotes continuous operation and content-change options. Exact panel dimensions and resolutions are not published on the page and should be obtained in writing for each face. Because the two installations do not appear to share an identical aspect ratio, advertisers should not assume that one master file will fit both without adaptation.

Artekselans provides a direct quotation form, info@artekselans.com and Istanbul telephone contacts on its website. It should also be asked to confirm its current authority to sell the panels, the available share of voice, any house or gallery content within the loop, brightness policy, proof-of-play method and whether audio is prohibited.

Products that require reconfirmation

Some planning material labels Taksim inventory as Icon. Icon DOOH's official site describes a 40-location Istanbul network of patented four-sided LED towers, with independently controlled faces and 3D modelling capability, but its public page does not provide a current named Taksim site listing. Do not substitute a network-level description for a Taksim-specific specification. If an Icon proposal is presented, request the site ID, recent timestamped photographs, map pin, number of faces and direct confirmation from Icon DOOH.

Similarly, Element4 documents an 80-square-metre “Taksim LED Screen” installed in 2020. That project reference establishes that a large installation existed, not that the same screen is a current bookable product in 2026. It should not be quoted as today's Taksim Square spectacular without current owner or operator confirmation.

Why Taksim is commercially important

Taksim Square sits in Beyoğlu on the European side of Istanbul and functions as the northern gateway to İstiklal Avenue. The official Go Türkiye guide describes the square as a cultural and communal hub, while its İstiklal Avenue guide connects Taksim with the pedestrian retail, dining and cultural route toward Galata.

The audience is mixed rather than narrowly commuter-led. It includes Istanbul residents, domestic visitors, international tourists, hotel guests, shoppers, restaurant and nightlife customers, cultural audiences, taxi passengers and people changing between transport modes. Daytime is shaped by tourism, retail, business and sightseeing; evenings add dining, entertainment and event traffic. Weekends, public holidays, cultural programming and major city occasions can materially alter both crowd volume and movement patterns.

The eastern side of the square is anchored by the rebuilt Atatürk Cultural Center. The AKM's official description lists a 2,040-seat opera hall, 781-seat theatre and exhibition facilities. Its transparent frontage and red spherical opera-hall form are part of the square's contemporary identity. These venue audiences strengthen the cultural context, but AKM attendance is not automatically an audience figure for any external billboard.

Audience and transport data: what the numbers mean

Taksim is directly served by the M2 metro and the F1 funicular to Kabataş. Metro İstanbul reports approximately 500,000 daily passenger journeys across the entire 16-station M2 line, not at Taksim station alone. It separately reports approximately 35,000 daily journeys across the two-station F1 line. These figures establish the scale of the connected transport network; they must not be added together or presented as Taksim Square billboard impressions. See the official M2 line data and F1 line data.

Artekselans displays an estimate of more than 250,000 daily passages, explaining that it derives the number by dividing an annual average into a daily estimate. The page does not publish an independent measurement provider, screen viewability study or methodology sufficient to convert that movement figure into advertising impressions. Buyers should treat it as seller-supplied location context, not guaranteed reach.

A defensible audience proposal should identify:

  • the geographic area and period covered by the count;
  • whether the data measures pedestrians, vehicles, transit entries or device observations;
  • the screen's visibility zone and direction of travel;
  • average frequency and campaign share of voice;
  • whether reach has been deduplicated; and
  • how public events, closures and seasonal tourism are handled.

How to buy Taksim screen advertising

For the freestanding public-space screen, start with a direct enquiry to Reklam İstanbul/Yovist and reference Taksim Meydan rather than a broad Istanbul network. For the Taner Palas panels, contact Artekselans directly and identify whether you want one panel, both panels or a synchronized treatment.

Before accepting a quotation, request a site pack containing:

This checklist is especially important in Taksim because a generic proposal can easily refer to a metro concourse, İstiklal street furniture or a wider city network rather than an outdoor screen overlooking the square.

  • The official asset name, screen ID and exact map pin.
  • A current daylight and night photograph showing the surrounding landmarks.
  • The sellable face or faces and their viewing directions.
  • Physical dimensions, pixel resolution, aspect ratio and safe area.
  • Accepted codec, frame rate, file size and maximum luminance rules.
  • Spot length, loop length, plays per hour and contracted share of voice.
  • Operating hours, blackout periods and municipal-content obligations.
  • Campaign start procedure, creative approval deadline and replacement fees.
  • Proof-of-play, photographic evidence and make-good policy.
  • Net media price, KDV treatment, production costs and any installation or service fees.

Taksim digital billboard cost

There is no dependable public direct-owner rate for the current Taksim Square outdoor digital products. Istanbul digital billboard cost at this location is normally quotation-based and can vary with the selected face, campaign dates, length of booking, spot frequency, exclusivity, creative changes and demand around holidays or events.

A low price is not necessarily comparable if it buys a smaller panel, fewer plays or a network package in which Taksim is only one location. Ask for the media cost and estimated delivery at site level. Where a takeover is offered, confirm whether “takeover” means exclusive commercial content, full-screen use, all faces, or simply a higher frequency inside a continuing municipal and house-content loop.

Creative guidance

Taksim rewards immediate comprehension. Use one message, a strong brand cue and imagery that remains legible against a visually busy square. Turkish-language copy is appropriate for broad local reach; international tourism campaigns may benefit from minimal bilingual wording. Keep essential type and logos away from edges until the operator supplies a safe-area template.

For the landscape public-space billboard, design for pedestrians and passing vehicles who may see only part of a loop. For the Taner Palas panels, account for oblique views and the different panel proportions. Silent motion, large typography, high contrast and an early brand reveal are safer than a television-style narrative.

No verified curved, corner-wrap or large-format anamorphic 3D billboard was found overlooking Taksim Square. A four-sided tower's ability to display 3D-modelled content is not the same as a perspective-correct anamorphic facade. Any proposal for an “Istanbul anamorphic 3D billboard” at Taksim should include a current site video, the intended viewing sweet spot and the exact technical canvas before production begins.

What is not included in this guide

This guide covers outdoor digital advertising visible in the immediate Taksim Square environment. It does not cover:

The historical warning is material. In 2011, Turkish advertising publication Bigumigu reported a broad removal of major commercial advertising from Taksim Square. Later temporary facade uses, including advertising on the old AKM, generated separate controversy. The present AKM, reopened in 2021, is an architectural and cultural venue; its square-facing facade should not be assumed to be commercial outdoor inventory.

  • screens inside Taksim M2 or F1 station concourses;
  • the Nostalgic Tram exterior, stops or interior;
  • AKM interior screens, venue signage or event sponsorship;
  • CLP and poster furniture farther along İstiklal Avenue;
  • motorway billboards on the D100 or O-1;
  • temporary event video walls; or
  • historic vinyl wallscapes and building wraps.

Is Taksim Square right for a campaign?

Taksim is strongest for advertisers seeking symbolic central-Istanbul presence, tourism and hospitality relevance, retail or entertainment launches, cultural adjacency and highly visible short-form messaging. It may be less suitable when a campaign needs a verified giant spectacular, guaranteed anamorphic production, long vehicle dwell time or a standardized national screen package.

The location's value comes from context: a famous public square at the entrance to İstiklal Avenue, connected to rail and funicular services and surrounded by culture, hotels, shopping, dining and nightlife. The trade-off is fragmented inventory and limited public technical disclosure. Careful site verification is therefore part of the buy, not an optional final check.

Research note

Inventory was checked on August 10, 2026. Taksim's screen estate and public-space permissions can change, so all specifications, ownership rights, availability and prices should be reconfirmed directly before a campaign is contracted.

Frequently Asked

Is there a giant digital billboard in Taksim Square?
A freestanding landscape LED billboard is documented at the square, and two smaller LED panels face it from Taner Palas. Historical large facade displays and an 80-square-metre 2020 installation should not be treated as current inventory without new operator confirmation.
Who operates the Taksim Square digital billboard?
The documented freestanding unit carries Yovi branding plus İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Kültür A.Ş. identification. Reklam İstanbul currently presents the related Yovist network and offers a direct enquiry route. Ask it to confirm the current site rights and specification before booking.
Can advertisers buy full-motion video?
Artekselans says its two square-facing panels accept MP4 as well as JPG and PNG. Full-motion capability, file specification and municipal approval requirements for the freestanding unit should be confirmed directly with its operator.
Does Taksim have a 3D anamorphic billboard?
No current large-format, square-facing anamorphic spectacular was verified. Do not infer this capability from generic Istanbul network claims or from four-sided digital-tower marketing.
How much does advertising in Taksim Square cost?
Verified direct sellers do not publish a current site-specific rate card. Pricing depends on the screen, dates, duration, spot frequency, share of voice and exclusivity. Request an itemized quotation in Turkish lira and confirm whether KDV is included.
Are Taksim Metro screens part of the same buy?
Not necessarily. Metro concourse and platform screens are separate transit products. A Taksim Square outdoor billboard proposal should name the external unit and show a current street-level photograph.
Can footfall or metro ridership be used as billboard impressions?
No. Area footfall and line-level transit journeys demonstrate the scale of the environment, but they do not prove that every person had an opportunity to see a particular screen. Use a screen-specific measurement method where available.
What should an advertiser verify immediately before launch?
Confirm the current screen photograph, asset ID, orientation, technical template, loop, operating hours, creative approval, campaign dates, proof-of-play and any restrictions caused by public events or municipal requirements.
